Gayle Printz: COVER ARTIST

Gayle Printz picked up her first paintbrush in May of 2020 to reflect upon the beauty that remained in a world darkened by the pandemic. Three months later, two Printz paintings were on exhibit in Europe. Now a World Master, Gayle is considered one of the most important contemporary artists of our time. Her painting, “COLORS,” is part of the permanent exhibit of Le Musée de Peinture de Saint-Frajou, France, and every painting in Gayle’s modern art portfolio shares in the 800 juried international awards she has earned. Soaring in value on the walls of prominent art collectors, investors, and art lovers around the globe, Printz paintings rank among the most sought-after art investments in the world’s primary and secondary markets.

Gayle earned her BA from the University of Pennsylvania and her JD from Boston University School of Law. Growing up, she spent eight summers at Interlochen Arts Academy. Too busy playing piano, Gayle never took a painting class. She considers this a plus: “With no rules to follow, the possibilities are endless.” Perhaps that explains the breadth and scope of her work.

There are no boundaries for Gayle Printz; her paintings freely cross artistic genres from abstract geometric, modernistic, abstract expressionistic, post-Impressionistic and even to works seemingly influenced by the 19th Century masters. The freedom with which Printz paints is part of her uniquely recognizable style. Using color, flow, texture, and distinct brushwork, Gayle creates paintings that transcend the familiar. There is great meaning in her artworks, but because she believes the importance of any artwork is based upon the emotion it evokes, Gayle will neither define that meaning nor intrude upon your personal interpretation. Gayle wants to give you the uninterrupted freedom to feel and experience the world in unanticipated ways.

Although Gayle’s work is not purely abstract, it does create a non-literal view of the world. Gayle explores freedom of expression in an untraditional way. It is that freedom of thought — freedom to develop your own opinion— that she hopes to transfer to the viewer by inspiring others to assign personal meaning to her work. Blending beauty with universal significance, Printz artworks are famous for moving the viewer to listen to the whispers of their imagination. Look closely, and you will notice a magical quality: Printz paintings are known to change with the angle of your gaze. This phenomenon makes perfect sense to Gayle for “As with life, the meaning in my work depends upon the way you look at it.”

It is Gayle’s hope that when you look at one of her paintings, it captures your eye, captures your interest, and creates an intrigue and value that differs from what you might usually see and feel. For by translating the colors of her world into the universal language of art, Gayle Printz hopes to motivate all People to celebrate the beauty in life.
